Two-Time Pulitzer Winner John Archibald Has Stories And Advice for Students (and Alabama)

Award-winning journalist and Alabama native John Archibald answers questions from Altamont journalism students A.J. Gallitz (left), and Frasier Horton (right) at an all-school assembly in the Cabannis-Kaul Center on March 20. Photo by Dan Carsen.

It's not every day that a nationally known reporter, columnist, podcaster, and author is interviewed by Altamont journalism students in front of the whole school. Then again, it's not every day that one Alabama native earns two Pulitzer prizes -- one with his son -- and continues to plug away at his challenging, often-controversial local writing job(s) for decades. John Archibald has done all that and more, and he talked about some of it with Acta Diurna interviewers Frasier Horton and A.J. Gallitz in the Cabaniss-Kaul Center on Wednesday. Horton and Gallitz asked Archibald about the state of the media, his award-winning and controversial work, pushback from powerful people he's angered, his first book, and more. You can watch the interview here.
