With the 67-39 win over Westminster on January 30th, the Altamont boys varsity basketball team has achieved an undefeated area record, something that hasn’t happened since the 2015-2016 season. With victories over schools like Westminster, Holy Family, Vincent, and Cornerstone, the Knights are regular season champions and head into the playoffs as a tournament one seed. The Knights will host the 2A Area 8 playoffs on their home court, Patton Gym. Most likely the team will face Vincent High School at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5.
The girls varsity team finished third in the area with a 10-10 record overall. *They await Vincent, hosted by one-seed Cornerstone High School, at 7:00 pm Saturday, February 3.
The boys JV team finished the season with a fierce 14 wins and 4 losses. Even more impressive, the girls 7-8 middle school team went undefeated at 13-0. The boys 7-8 middle school team finished 5-8.
*Update, late Saturday, Feb. 3: Girls varsity lost to Vincent in a hard-fought, physical game, 56-44.
