As the season's end draws near, The Altamont School boys and girls soccer teams are preparing for their remaining few and important matches, hoping to earn spots in the playoffs this year.
Just before spring break, both teams played Fultondale High School and brought home two wins. The boys beat Fultondale 4-1, while the girls snagged a 1-0 win. After the break, both teams are eager to get back onto the field and get another win.
For both teams, the next game -- on Thursday, April 13th -- is an area game against Westminster High School.
The boys are preparing for a hard-fought match as they need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. When asked about the remainder of the season and what to expect, head coach Jason Swam said, “We have six remaining games and five of the six should be very competitive. Our schedule has several tough non-area match-ups coming up, including Gardendale and Indian Springs. With two area games left on the schedule, we are looking to make a push into the playoffs. We’ve got two regular season home games left. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this group of seniors play in their last few games.”
Girls coach Katie Williams adds, "This team has worked hard all season to compete. They have put themselves in a good position to make a playoff run, and we're excited to finish out the season strong!"
Below are the girls and boys schedules.
